Premises

The SDF Historical Archives are located at Viale Francesco Cassani 15, Treviglio (Bergamo), the company’s headquarters.

Internal access and use

The Historical Archives are a company department, to all effects and purposes. All SDF collaborators may access it freely by appointment. The documents have been organised and ordered in accordance with the company’s operational requirements. No document may leave the archives in a normal manner under any circumstances. It is however possible to make copies and send them to the offices that request them.

External access and use

Access to persons outside of the company is governed by specific regulations. The Archives may only by visited by appointment. The appointment must be made with adequate notice (at least a week) by phoning or e-mailing the Archives. Access is permitted to individuals and groups. Should the groups be particularly large, visitors must be divided into smaller groups that may not visit at the same time. Research and visits are always guided by the Archives’ staff. Individual appointments may be made for university students or researchers who intend to write a thesis using the material preserved. The students or researchers leave a copy of the degree thesis with the Historical Archives, which keep them as evidence of their work and make them available for other users in the future.

Documents and items may be loaned by agreement, subject to taking out a specific insurance policy, for exhibitions and initiatives of various kinds.

Opening hours and visiting

The Historical Archives are open for company departments every workday from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. It is open to the public in the same way. Visits can only be made by appointment by phone (+39 0363 421695) or e-mail (archiviostorico@sdfgroup.com). Documents may only be consulted in the study room.

Guests must register their entry to the company, indicating their personal details for identification. This data is not disclosed in any way, either within or outside the company, and is used solely to ascertain the identity of visitors and calculate their number and type for statistical purposes.

Limits to consultation

ll documentation preserved in the Historical Archives can be consulted, except for:

  • material that has not been ordered and catalogued;
  • documentation indicated as ‘confidential’ by company offices upon submission to the Archives;
  • ‘confidential’ strategic company documents.

Website

Consultation of the Historical Archives catalogue is freely accessible to all and can be performed using these web pages. It is also possible to request certain types of document of a technical nature simply by paying for the expenses. You may explore the site by selecting the category that interests you the most (e.g. Use and Maintenance Booklets, Workshop Manuals, etc.). Requests can be made on the web directly, by selecting the individual documents and paying the expenses (€15.00) by credit card, making sure to complete the fields with the required information.
